Red lipstick can be scary. If you choose the wrong shade for your skin tone you look like a cartoon. Cruella Deville is a great example, or the Joker. I actually lean as far away from anything red as I can. If you peaked in my closet there is a veritable sea of navy blues and greens, grey and white, black and ivory. Over time I have built a collection of items that mix and match almost to the point that it bores me. I like to change things up by adding a little pop of color here and there. Lipstick is the perfect way to do that. It is inexpensive and not permanent. Most stores will allow you to take it back and exchange it for another shade and of no cost to you. This gives you permission to step outside of your comfort zone and experiment. My Hungarian/Irish background has bequeathed upon me very olive skin, lots of freckles, and my mother's dimples. So for me an orange-red works the best. The one I wear here is by Wet-n-Wild. It is Megashield Lip Color with SPF 15 in "Salsa lessons" (no I am not kidding) and it cost me less than four dollars. I had fun pairing it with different fun pieces from my closet and my new birthday shoes from Zara.
