Like Mother, Like Son

There are two ways to be single. You can wait around for things to happen to you, or you can create opportunities for yourself. After a couple hap-hazard dating experiences that left me feeling less than enthusiastic about wanting to ever be in any variation of a romantic relationship, I decided to go on these mini adventures all on my own. I was done waiting around for anyone to share the experience with. I only get one life. I wanted to have stories to tell. I started picking up Groupons for all sorts of things that I have always wanted to try. The last Groupon I ever bought was for a beginner flight lesson. Only after becoming a mother did I begin to fear flight. The idea of leaving them without me was terrifying. My mother died when I was eight. That changes a person. So I got up that December morning in 2012 and challenged myself to face my fears. It was without question probably THE most memorable experience of my life for so many reasons. I cherish those memories to this day. I wanted that for my son. EEA Young Eagles program is an organization that offers free flights to children between the ages of 5 and 17. They offer these all over the United States, and whether or not your child ever wants to be a pilot, it is a extraordinary opportunity.
